( 3/28/07 ) With the grace of ALLAH, Dr. Abdelhaleem Ashqar has been taken off the ankle bracelet and all travel restrictions (national within the US only) have been lifted.
Federal Judge Amy St. Eve, who preside over this case, issued an order on Monday 3/26/07 per the request of Ashqar's defense team, and citing the acquittal from Rico charges last month. Dr. Ashqar was acquitted from Rico charges last month when a Chicago jury found him and a codefendant not guilty of the main conspiracy charges. Dr. Ashqar has been on GPS electronic monitoring and house arrest and incarceration since November 2003.
